Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic

    Pay is based on experience. $25.00+ an hour 

    Seabreeze Property Services, a leading property services company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment/ Diesel Mechanic for our Topsham location to help support our dynamic, growing workplace. This is a full-time opportunity responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs. The right candidate will have a strong mechanical background, “can-do” attitude, and be a proven team player. The Primary duties of the Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic include:

    • Diagnosing and performing repairs and replacement on steering, engine, transmission, braking, hydraulics or lighting systems on company equipment such as trucks, trailers, dump trucks, tractors, excavators, loaders, sanders, and skid steers
    • Ability to perform preventative maintenance services on vehicles and equipment
    • Use hand and power tools including cutting, welding and fabrication equipment
    • Interact closely with operators, site foremen, other mechanics, and management
    • Completing maintenance work as assigned
    • Read and understand technical service manuals
    • Test drive completed equipment and vehicles to gauge performance of repair work
    • Maintaining detailed records of serviced and repaired equipment and vehicles
    • Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown, especially in winter months
    • Applicants must be able to tolerate physical effort including the handling of objects (up to 75 pounds)

    • Applicants must be willing and able to work outdoors, in all elements
    • Able to safely work with a wide variety of equipment
    • Ability to operate heavy equipment a plus
    • Ability to weld grind and fabricate on occasion for needed repairs

     Requirements:

    • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred or acquire a CLD license within 7 months of hire date
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with trucks and small engines. Willing to train the right candidate
    • Basic computer skills
    • Must be able to multitask and prioritize
